Carvacrol is thought to be the most active component for medicinal purposes.

Principle Uses: In the food flavor trade and natural health products.

Properties: Very powerful anti-microbial.  Useful for respiratory tract ailments if the vapours are inhaled. Eases breathing in colds & flu. Stimulates appetite. 

Used in massage to warm the skin and muscles making it useful for muscle pain and stiffness. Good for pre sports rubs.

Oregano oil has numerous medicinal uses, but due to medicines legislation we cannot list them here.

Safe uses: This oil must be well diluted before use or it will burn the skin or mucus membranes.  Avoid transferring it from the fingers to the eyes the same as when using chillies.
